California Event 2022
The encore performance of the California reunion of classmates and their spouses was enormously successful. A total of sixteen classmates and spouses arrived promptly at 4 pm July 9, 2022, for a much anticipated tour of the incredible gardens of Green Valley Growers, located at the home of Jerry Bolduan and Paul Gussenhoven. The weather was perfect!
Green Valley Growers is a boutique wholesale cut flower grower and seller located in the rolling hills of of the wine country in Sonoma County CA. They specialize in hydrangeas and other cut flowers and branches which are sold at the San Francisco Flower Market, as well as shipped to clients/customers all over the United States. They are not open to the public so this private tour was a rare treat and one of the highlights of the evening.
The festive party continued with an incredible feast of fresh flavors prepared to perfection. The menu included four courses: a caprese salad with homemade strawberry-infused balsamic dressing, followed by melon with Serrano ham, a mixed grill of meats and with vegetables, and an incredible dessert: pavlova with passion fruit curd, whipping cream and fresh strawberries and peaches—all served in the natural beauty and elegance of Jerry and Paul’s deck and home.
We relaxed, enjoyed, laughed, and renewed friendships in this magical setting on the expansive decks with 70 mile views out over vineyards and the distant Mayacamas Mountains.
The following day thirteen of us continued to Brunch at the Wild Oak Saddle Club, a private club in Santa Rosa. We were treated to spectacular views of polo matches while we enjoyed a sumptuous feast of brunch foods prepared to order. Continuing to renew friendships, laugh, relax and enjoy each others company was the highlight of the morning. We departed mid-day, looking forward to the next time we meet to celebrate the Bowsher High School Class of 1967.
