Michael Manion

TOLEDO EX-POLICEMAN DIES IN CALIFORNIA
Death Being Investigated; Foul Play Ruled Out

The body of Michael K. Manion, 33, a former Toledo police officer, was found Tuesday afternoon in his home in Mountain Pass, California where he had lived the past 1 1/2 years.

Mr. Manion was formerly of the 2900 block of Oxbridge Dr. The San Bernadino County sheriff's department and the county medical examiner's office are investigating the death. A sheriff's deputy said that foul play has been ruled out. 

Mr. Manion, who was a security guard the past 1 1/2 years at the Molly Corp., Mountain Pass, was a Toledo police officer from 1973 to 1975. He was a graduate of Bowsher High School and the University of Toledo and received a master's degree in counseling alcohol and drug abusers from Eastern Illinois University.

After leaving Toledo about 4 1/2 years ago, Mr. Manion was a security guard three years at several Las Vegas casinos before moving to California. He also was an Air Force veteran.

Surviving are his son, Christopher, of Toledo; daughter, Sarah, of Toledo; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Manion; brother, Richard; sisters, Mrs. Marcia Shavalia, of Monroe, MI., and Mrs. Mary Jo Ballert, of Toledo; and grandparents Karl Rumpf and Mrs. Florence Manion of Toledo. 

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Agnes Church, Toledo. The body will be in the Coyle Mortuary, South Reynolds Rd., after noon Sunday, followed by recitation of the Rosary at 4:30 p.m.
