George Matthewson

George O. MATHEWSON 47, of Springfield died Wednesday, July 24, 1996, as the result of an automobile accident. He was born in Cincinnati, Oho, on July 8, 1919, a son of Paul Edwin and Mozelle (MORRIS) MATHEWSON. George was a practicing Madison County Attorney, member of the First Presbyterian Church, London, a graduate of The Ohio State University Law School, where he was a member of the Order of the Sphinx, and was a past president of the Student Union, member of Beta Gamma Sigma and Phi Alpha Kappa, was an Evans Scholar, Past President of the London Rotary Club, member and board member of the London Country Club, owner of Simon's Pub in London and Scooters Restaurant in Springfield, served on the London City Council in 1984, and was a Board member of the Citizen's Loan and Savings in London.

George is survived by his wife, Susan (MEDORS) MATHEWSON; maternal grandmother, Maude MORRIS of Jonesville, Virginia; his parents of Toledo; daughter, Lana MATHEWSON of London; sons, Jeffrey Cameron MATHEWSON of London, George Ross MATHEWSON , and Troy Otis MATHEWSON, both of Hilliard; step-son, Heath Elliot of Hilliard; sisters, Judy ANDERSON of Springfield, Mary HASSAN of Toledo; brother, Eric MATHESON of Toledo; and several nieces and nephews.

The family invites friends to call at the Rader-Lynch and Dodds Funeral Home, London, on Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church, London, with Reverend George Alexander officiating. Interment at Kirkwood Cemetery, London, Ohio.
