JERRY F. SHANTEAU
Jerry F. Shanteau, age 40, of Maumee, Ohio, passed away November 6 at Toledo Hospital. Jerry was employed at Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority since 1978. Prior to that he was with the Medical College of Ohio and Village of Holland Police Dept. Recently he was affiliated with Continental Airlines. He held an Associate Degree in Law Enforcement from Owens Tech College which he received in 1979. He was a graduate of Criminal Justice Learning Center in 1974, a Bowsher High School graduate of 1967. He was a Certified Ohio Peace Officer Instructor in Firearms and First Aide. Jerry had taught at Criminal Justice Training Center and the University of Toledo Associate program for Law Enforcement. He was a past Union Steward at the Port Authority and was on the Ohio Police Olympic Advisory Board. Jerry was a Vietnam Army Veteran (SP-4) discharged on September 13, 1970; receiving the National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was President and Co-founder of Weapons Craft, Inc. and was an avid gun enthusiast.
Surviving is his wife, Theresa; daughter, Jennifer Shanteau; mother, Mrs. Stella Hoover; brother, Mr. Larry Shanteau; step-daughter, Kimberly Smith and step-son Brian Smith. Funeral services will be Saturdayat 9:30 a.m. from the Sujkowski Funeral Home, 3838 Airport Hwy. with Funeral Mass offered at St. Joan of Arc Church at 10 a.m. Interment, Calvary Cemetery. Scripture service Friday at 8:30 p.m. Visitation after 7 p.m. Thursday.
