Randall Elliott Walker (April 21, 1949-October 15, 1996)
Life is Changed, not taken away...
For those who live in Christ, there is never a last farewell.
Randy was a wonderful husband, friend, father, musician, brother and son. He was full of life, love and laughter. He was one of the few who could take a serious situation and tastefully and sometimes (tactlessly) make light out of it and brought the joy out in people.
He was born in Columbus, Ohio and moved to Toledo, Ohio when he was very young. He lived with his loving family - mom Carol, dad Robert, brother Rick, sisters Lynn, Gail, and Laura. He served in the army in Viet Nam from December, 1969 through February, 1971. He moved to Cape Coral in 1980 and worked as a computer programmer.
December 31, 1982 he met Carol - it was love at first sight. He was married on January 14, 1984 at Grace United Methodist Church. On November 21, 1985, he had a beautiful baby boy, Eric James, He became the best "Mr. Mom" a wife could ask for (the best diaper changer in the Southwest!).
He had a great love for music in all aspects. He had a beautiful voice, very versatile with a wide range. He played many instruments: drums, guitar, bass guitar, recorder, piano, and organ. He sang in many groups through church and elsewhere. His latest endeavor was a bass player and singer in the Peace River Band, a local bluegrass band. He loved performing and singing for people and for God, as it was one of his special gifts.
Randy and Eric had a very close and special relationship as father and son. He was always there when Eric needed help, a hug or kiss. He was his tennis buddy, teaching Eric how to play both mentally and physically. He was always encouraging and loving in his relationship with his son.
Randy was and still is my best friend, love and soulmate. I love him and miss him dearly. I thank him for being in and part of my life and for touching so many other lives in the special ways he did. I thank him and God for the precious time we had together and for all the laughter he gave me.
This is just a short synopsis of his life - he accomplished so much more than I could ever begin to tell.
Thanks to Lynn Kneisel, Randy's sister, for providing us with the handout from his funeral service.
