Alfred E. Schunk III, 57, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2005. He was drafted into the U.S. Army after he graduated from Bowsher High School to serve in Viet Nam and was awarded numerous medals, including the Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts. Al worked for Conrail until his retirement and was a longtime member of the VFW. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred II and Maxine. Surviving are his daughter, Kelley; sons Bryan, David (Kristina) and Ryan; granddaughter Brianna; brother William and many other family and friends. 

There will be no visitation. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 16 at Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Ave. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the family.
