Now live in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico. First visited in 1979. Moving here was the best decision of my life, after first visiting in 1979 when there were few peoples, eateries and NO Condos! I have made my mark here and known by thousands via my writing. I am very active on Facebook and operate five groups ranging from local news, restaurants, gardening and live entertainment.
Fifty Shades of Hell
I survived the horrendous two+ weeks of being ill and fatigued. After two bouts of gastric acid vomiting and unable to breathe, Enrico rushed me to Medasist since it was merely two blocks away. I had been hospitalized there with a urinary tract infection three years ago and released too soon, unassisted, but we decided this was the best immediate move. I was kept in the ICU and was going to have to pay upfront over 200,000 pesos for an endoscopy. Enrico was outraged and said he could find something much more reasonable. We wished to go to San Mar Boutique Hospital near La Isla but needed a prepayment.
We opted to check into a hotel until we could be transferred to San Mar. I was very ill and could not sleep due to the light and noise. We stayed only about five hours, knowing that I must vacate as soon as possible.
With the wonderful assistance of my Guardian Angel at Intercam, the two guys increased my debit card top limit, cosigned much paperwork and they took me by ambulance to San Mar ICU, (SANMARĂ Health-Care Group at Blvd. Francisco Medina Ascencio 2735-9, Zona Hotelera, Zona Hotelera Nte., 48333. Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco) where my prepayment was enough for me to stay one night, Sunday. My wonderful pre-arranged surgeon is located in this hospital and secured discounts and free work which included a plastic type gauze. A portion of duodenal stomach ulcer was the cause of the problem. He worked on his day off and performed the surgery with me under terrific anesthesia. He found a large bleeding ulcer which bled only 1 ml of blood and stopped, but it must be treated for at least three months. I am also suffering from gastritis.
He was prepared to release me Monday without an overnight stay, but my apartment on Invierno was filthy from my uncontrolled body functions and Seapal was not supplying water due to a street blockage, so Enrico could not sanitize it before my entry. We opted to stay a night at San Mare with the care of doctors, nurses and assistants, who watched over me every 15 minutes. My blood pressure remained fine although at the low side, out of danger, my temperature was good, at the bottom level, my blood platelets and glucose were of concern, fluctuating mainly since I had had no food or sleep for almost nine days.
The surgery was an immediate success. The cuts were stitched. The next day, Monday, the surgeon expressed pleasure. I was pale and drawn but resting and getting some needed sleep. The extra day provided a good improvement for my health. We returned to Invierno and I stayed in bed for a day. Then I felt good enough to get up and walk a little around the apartment, wearing a tight waistband to hold the surgery in place. The medications strengthened me and every few hours I felt better. Everyone who sees me says I am definitely on the road to recovery. The spirits are raising me from my low depths and there is light ahead. One day at a time.
Now, a day after Christmas, I can report that life has been good since the happenings above. I live in a wonderful apartment in a non-touristy area, enjoy the life of leisure and seeing friends living here and visiting. Any BHS grads who will be stopping here for a look, contact me and we can get together and have food, chats and fun! I use In Drive to get around and many times my personal assistant takes me in his new car. Enrico lives with his wife not far from here and comes three times a week. He is a master chef by trade so I eat like a King every day, Delicious foods of Italy, Mexico, France, Texas and Hawaii. He does all the house duties so I do not have to wear myself out with household tasks! Haven't seen a doctor for over 4 months!!!
